Afterschool programmes
REAL Zone afterschool programmes are extracurricular activities that run outside of REAL School Budapest's school hours, so before 8:45 and after 15:30, Monday to Friday. This is a space and a community where we learn the skills and mindsets to change our world for the better, mainly through play, arts, crafts, and movement. And have fun!
Please read through our Terms and Conditions and note that if any participant is not able or willing to follow instructions or respect the agreements and rules of the RSBP Behaviour Policy, they may be suspended from the activity. Afterschool programmes offered by REAL School educators and community members are free to REAL School learners, except for minimal materials fees.
REAL School Budapest, Záhony utca 7, 1031 Budapest, Hungary. You can catch the HÉV and buses 34, 106 and 134 to Kaszásdűlő with public transport.

The programmes are conducted in simple English combined with visual aids, so they are also suitable for non-native speakers. Most of our educators also speak Hungarian.

We warmly invite you to the REAL Zone Expo on Monday, 12 January 2026, from 15:45, in Sir David Attenborough's room. This is a great opportunity to explore the activities, meet the instructors, and discover many new clubs!
Registration will open on the same day. We will be using a new system called Pembee for registration, attendance tracking, and online payments. You will have two options:
-
If your child wants to try a club first: Register for the trial session, attend the trial session, then log in to the system again and confirm participation by re-registering for both terms by 23 January 2026.
-
If your child already knows the activity and wants to continue: Register for both terms right away and start attending the activity from the trial week already.
Registration is on a first-come, first-served basis. By signing up, you commit that - unless cancelled during the trial week - your child will attend the enrichment(s) for the whole terms 2&3.

min 3 - max 12 children/session
For REAL School students: free
For external students: HUF 2,500/session
Thursday 16:00-16:55
Do you want to be the one who gets it? Have young people ever changed history? Who decides how much work is worth? Each session starts with a real question from today or something everyone's talking about - then we unbox the past to discover how we got here. Through storytelling, maps, timelines, and group discussions, children learn to connect the dots between different times, places, and events. Students build their English vocabulary naturally while exploring history and geography, practice spotting patterns that repeat across centuries, and discover how decisions made long ago still shape their lives today. Over time, they won't just know more facts - they'll gradually understand how to think historically, notice different perspectives, look at the world with fresh eyes, and feel confident joining conversations about what's happening around them.

arkki
with Gábor & Zsuzsanna
ages 6-12 (children ages 6 must be accompanied by a parent)
min 10 - max 14 children/workshop
For REAL School and external students: 10,000 HUF/workshop
What is Arkki?
It's an amazing international programme that we are lucky to be hosting at REAL School. This is their Hungarian site.
Children will design, build, and reimagine spaces while developing their problem-solving and collaboration skills. These workshops combine STEAM fields (science, technology, engineering, arts, and mathematics) with the humanities and social sciences, offering students the opportunity to create as designers, architects, and urban planners—through play and experimentation.
27 September 2025, 14:30-17:00 - Marble track with Gábor
In the Marble Track project, the pupils construct a functioning marble track game inspired by rollercoasters and slides. This project introduces physics in action in a fun way. Pupils explore kinetic energy and the gravitational potential energy in action by experimenting and learning.
11 October 2025, 14:30-17:00 - Lively street with Zsuzsanna
In this project, the pupils collaborate as a team to design a walkable and enjoyable downtown shopping street with a unique expression. The pupils are introduced to the basic elements of street design and lively sidewalk zones. The pupils design and create a facade composition with a commercial first floor, and a street space to accommodate different functions and create a pleasant atmosphere for pedestrians.
29 November 2025, 14:30-17:00 - Recycled city with Zsuzsanna
The Recycled City project introduces the basic concepts of urban planning. The pupils design and build a fictional city, considering different functions of buildings, transportation, public buildings, housing, and public spaces. While planning the city together, the pupils practice how to argue, defend their opinions, understand and value others' ideas, evaluate, review and compare alternative theories and opinions.
31 January 2026, 10:00-12:30 - Room of my dreams with Zsuzsanna
In this project, the pupils imagine, design, and build their own dream rooms. This design challenge encapsulates the challenges in architectural design - intertwining wishes and technical and material preconditions. Even the smallest spatial design combines "strength", "utility" and "beauty" as Vitruvius put it. A shoebox makes a good start for this challenge, even if "You can't fit all your dreams into a shoebox." (quote from an Arkki pupil)
